Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo

Pull on those cowboy boots, slip into a pearl snap and top it off with the classic Stetson. The Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo is rollin’ into town January 25th-February 3rd. Gather the young cowpokes and prepare for ten days of a classic cowboy showcase.

The stock show’s roots begin in 1958, when members of the Rapid City Ag Committee met at a laundromat to discuss a plan that would incorporate rural and urban lifestyles and preserve the western heritage in South Dakota. The first stock shows weren’t nearly as elaborate as today’s Black Hills Stock Show; however, their goal has been successful. The cowboy spirit lives and fear of losing the classic American western heritage is no longer in jeopardy.

The 2013 Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo will feature numerous events including: entertainment, livestock sales, rodeos, horse shows, bronc matches and much more. Shuttle services will be offered throughout the day at the Event Center and the Civic Center.

Think you could use a new pair of boots for the Saturday evening concert? Perhaps the ranch needs another horse and saddle? With over 200 vendors at the Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo, there will be endless opportunities to shop. Trailers, clothing, household merchandise, livestock equipment, tack supplies and much more are available at the CINCH Trade Show.

Music will percolate through the James Kjerstad Event Center during the newly added Stock Show Stampede event. Live music by country artists Randy Houser, Dustin Lynch and newcomer Greg Bates will have crowds stompin’ away and having a good time. Dustin Lynch and Greg Bates play Friday, February 1st beginning at 8pm. Randy Houser will follow Saturday, February 2nd, at 8pm. Concert tickets are $10.

The 2013 Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo is a sure bet for fun. For a full list of information on events, rodeos, live entertainment, trade shows and more, visit the Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo website.

Caleb Arceneaux, Chief Executive Officer of Isis Hospitality, L.L.C., said, “In 2012 our out-of-town guests and local contributors raised over $52,000. For 2013, we are proud to continue our tradition of giving back by supporting our local community.”

“We feel that it is very important that all of us embrace the idea of giving back and contributing to the community in which we live,” explained Arceneaux. “We make it easy to participate – by simply staying in a hotel room, playing at the Waterpark or eating at the restaurant, a contribution is made.”
