The stock show’s roots begin in 1958, when members of the Rapid City Ag Committee met at a laundromat to discuss a plan that would incorporate rural and urban lifestyles and preserve the western heritage in South Dakota. The first stock shows weren’t nearly as elaborate as today’s Black Hills Stock Show; however, their goal has been successful. The cowboy spirit lives and fear of losing the classic American western heritage is no longer in jeopardy.

The 2013 Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo will feature numerous events including: entertainment, livestock sales, rodeos, horse shows, bronc matches and much more. Shuttle services will be offered throughout the day at the Event Center and the Civic Center.

Think you could use a new pair of boots for the Saturday evening concert? Perhaps the ranch needs another horse and saddle? With over 200 vendors at the Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo, there will be endless opportunities to shop.
