Policies And Procedures
Please read the following hotel policies and procedures carefully. The staff at Hotel Alex Johnson would like to thank you for adhering to these policies and procedures during your stay with us.
At the time of check-in, you will be required to read and sign the hotel policy agreement, therefore agreeing to abide by the policies and procedures listed below.
Reservations are only guaranteed at the time of a pre-paid deposit by means of cash, check, or credit card and after such will be guaranteed all night. We require 48 hours advance cancellation notice for individual arrivals. If the required cancellation notice is not received, the guest will be charged for one night’s stay. All remaining days will be released unless the signed contract indicates otherwise.
Quoted rates do not include taxes of 8.5% + $2 Occupancy Tax + Historic Preservation Fee per room per night. All rooms are based on availability and certain restrictions could apply. Guests must be at least twenty one years of age or be accompanied by someone at least twenty one years of age to check in. Safety deposit boxes are available at the front desk for guest use, and off-street parking is available for guests of the hotel.

Check-in time is 4 PM daily. Exceptions are made per the advanced notice to the hotel staff. All room night fees are due upon check-in by cash or credit card. A cash deposit will be noted on the registration form that will act as the receipt of deposit for the guest.
Check-out time is 11 AM without exceptions, unless provided by the hotel clerk per advanced notice. If a guest occupies the room past 11 AM they will be charged an additional night’s rate. Cash deposit is to be refunded upon check-out.
CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS
If an individual cancels their reservation more than 48 hours prior to their stay, they will not be charged a fee by the hotel. If pre-payments have been paid via another third party provider, the guest will have to contact that company to request a refund under their stated policies.
If a guest cancels within 48 hours of their scheduled stay, they will be charged for the first night’s stay.
Smoking is prohibited in all non-smoking rooms and in all public areas of the hotel. A $200 fine will be applied to the account for those who smoke in a non-smoking room.
The Hotel Alex Johnson is one of the few pet friendly hotels in Rapid City, SD. If you require a pet-friendly room, a fee of $50 will be charged to the reserved account. Be sure to check out our Pampered Pooch package.
Guests must be at least twenty-one years of age to enter the casino in Paddy O’Neill’s Irish Pub. Those who enter the casino will be asked to show valid proof of age. Anyone attempting to enter the casino that does not follow the age restriction limit will be immediately asked to leave.
