The employees make the difference. I would like to give a shout out to Masen at the front desk. He provides excellent service with kindness. We also enjoyed taking to Cynthia about the history and the ghosts of the hotel. I wish I had her name but the server at breakfast was so delightful. She had long grayish hair. Neat hotel with lots of history. The rooftop bar was a treat.

Wonderful Curio property. Accommodating staff. Clean room and comfortable beds. Stayed two nights and enjoyed Paddy O’Neils, Vertex & Starbucks . Hotel has a historic presence in the town. Renovations appeared to be ongoing they were mindful with pardon our progress notifications,Valet parking definitely worth while. Car was brought down timely.Hotel is an easy drive to Mount Rushmore

Charming older downtown hotel with lots of history. Comes with all expected amenities and even has a Starbucks adjacent to the lobby. Convenient walking distance to everything downtown. Parking is not on property, but meters on street are free on weekends and valet is available for $30/day. Rooftop bar with fire pits is great!

This place is great! I had no idea what to expect while traveling through Rapid City and really enjoyed our time! Hotel location is great and very walkable to many restaurants. The rooms are tiny (historic hotel) but nonetheless clean! Staff was lively and fun to chat with. We will be coming back!

What an amazing and impressive stay! To top it off, Patrick provided a MASTERCLASS in customer service and saving our vacation. We were only slated for one night and when our cabin fell through (heat was broken), Patrick found us a room and was able to extend our stay. Beautiful location, loved the ambiance, room was comfy and the only downside was parking (valet is a must and it just takes a bit to get your vehicle so play ahead 🤗). Rooftop bar and Starbucks on-site were both added bonuses! 10/10 recommend!

Absolutely LOVE this place!!! The only downsides were housekeeping didn't restock anything. We had to go down and get coffee pods for the morning and the valet service is pricey and takes a long time. Front desk staff was FABULOUS!!

Can't get any classier than Alex Johnson Hotel! Absolutely beautiful hotel that is rich with history. Hotel room was clean and comfortable, with a beautiful view of the city.Cynthia checked us in and was so nice! She let us know of delicious restaurants nearby and even checked on us via text message to make sure our room was up to par.If you have an opportunity to stay at this hotel during your trip to Rapid City, definitely stay here! I highly recommend it!
