Black Hills Pow Wow

October 9-11

Every October, Rapid City comes alive with one of the nation’s premier Indigenous cultural celebrations—the Black Hills Pow Wow. From October 9-11, the Summit Arena at The Monument will host the 38th Annual Black Hills Powwow, inviting travelers from across North America to witness a vibrant showcase of tradition, art, and community.

For three days, the Summit Arena resonates with the heartbeat of the Great Plains through dynamic drumming, dancers in traditional outfits, and inspiring ceremonies. Visitors may find themselves immersed in the Grand Entry Parade—a stirring display of color and unity—as well as opportunities to explore vendor booths brimming with beadwork, ribbon skirts, artwork, and more. Those attending for the first time are encouraged to take part in Wacipi 101, an orientation session designed to provide insights into powwow etiquette and the rich cultural significance of what you’ll experience.
